Who was Pulakeśhin II and what were his major accomplishments?

Pulakeśhin II was the grandson of Pulakeśhin I who greatly expanded the Chālukya kingdom. He successfully checked Harṣha's southward expansion. Xuanzang visited the Chālukya kingdom and praised Pulakeśhin II's rule. A Sanskrit inscription by Ravikīrti praises his victories, though it contains exaggerations.
