What caused the decline of the Chola empire by the thirteenth century?

Frequent conflicts with Western Chalukyas, Paṇḍyas, and Sri Lankan rulers drained the Chola treasury. By the thirteenth century, the Chola empire declined and was eventually absorbed by the Paṇḍyas completely.
