Explain what decentralisation means and why it is important.
Decentralisation means power and decision-making are spread out and not concentrated in just one place or one small group. Local problems should be solved locally, whilst bigger issues can be solved by higher-level governments. It is important because it makes governance more democratic by allowing people to be involved in decisions that affect their daily lives. Local leaders know the area and its needs better than distant officials. When leaders are closer to people, it is easier to question them and make sure they do their job properly.
