Why are millets called nutri-cereals?
Millets are called nutri-cereals because they are rich in essential nutrients such as dietary fibre, protein, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, B vitamins, and antioxidants. Compared to many refined cereals, millets provide higher nutritional value and support overall health.
Regular consumption of millets can improve digestion, help maintain healthy blood sugar levels, support heart health, strengthen bones, and reduce the risk of nutrient deficiencies. Because of their excellent nutritional profile, the Government of India and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) promote millets as healthy and sustainable grains.
