Whole Numbers Class 6
Whole numbers, as taught in Class 6 mathematics, are the set of natural numbers including zero non-negative integers with no fractions or decimals.
| Property | Example |
|---|---|
| Closure under addition | 3 + 4 = 7 (a whole number) |
| Closure under multiplication | 3 × 4 = 12 (a whole number) |
| Commutative | 2 + 3 = 3 + 2 |
| Associative | (1+2)+3 = 1+(2+3) |
| Additive identity | a + 0 = a |
| Multiplicative identity | a × 1 = a |
Not whole numbers: fractions (½), negative integers (-3), decimals (2.5). Whole numbers are represented on a number line starting from 0, moving right in equal intervals.
