Who Killed Mohammad Ghori?

Muhammad Ghori (Mu'izz ad-Din Muhammad ibn Sam) was killed on 15 March 1206 CE near the Jhelum River (present-day Pakistan) by assassins.

• Attacked while returning from a campaign against the Khokar tribe in the Punjab region
• Killed during evening prayers in his camp
• Most widely cited account attributes the assassination to Khokar tribesmen seeking revenge
• Some historical accounts suggest Nizari Ismaili Assassins
• His death occurred the same year his general Qutb-ud-Din Aibak established the Delhi Sultanate (1206)

Important: The popular legend that Prithviraj Chauhan killed Ghori is historically disputed Prithviraj was captured and executed after the Second Battle of Tarain (1192), 14 years before Ghori's death.
