What is tropic of cancer?

The Tropic of Cancer is an important line of latitude located at 23°30′ North (23.5° N) of the Equator. It is the northernmost latitude where the Sun can appear directly overhead at noon, which occurs around 21 June each year.

In India, the Tropic of Cancer passes through eight states: Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura, and Mizoram.

This line divides India into almost two equal halves and plays an important role in influencing the country's climate and seasons.
