What is the function of centrioles, and in which type of cells are they primarily found?
Centrioles are cylindrical organelles found in the cytoplasm of animal cells and some lower plant cells, typically in pairs and oriented perpendicular to each other. Their primary function is to organize the mitotic spindle during cell division by serving as the main microtubule-organizing center (MTOC). They are also involved in the formation of cilia and flagella.
