What is parallel venation and how can it be identified?
Parallel venation is a type of leaf venation in which veins run almost parallel to each other from the base to the tip of the leaf. The veins do not form a net-like pattern and usually follow the same direction along the length of the leaf.
Parallel venation can be identified by observing long, straight vein arrangements on the leaf surface. It is commonly found in monocot plants, which usually have fibrous root systems. Examples of plants with parallel venation include grass, wheat, maize, and banana plants.
The presence of several veins arranged side by side in a similar direction is the main feature used to recognise parallel venation.
