What is cytoplasm?

Cytoplasm is the semi-fluid, jelly-like substance present inside the cell between the cell membrane and the nucleus. It forms the internal environment where most cellular activities take place.

It contains various cell organelles such as mitochondria, ribosomes, endoplasmic reticulum, and Golgi apparatus, all suspended within it.

The cytoplasm is the site of many metabolic reactions, including the initial stages of respiration and the synthesis of certain molecules.

It also helps in maintaining the shape of the cell and allows the movement of materials within the cell.
