What is assimilation?
Assimilation is the process by which absorbed nutrients are utilized by the body’s cells for energy, growth, repair, and maintenance.
After absorption, nutrients such as glucose, amino acids, and fatty acids are transported through the bloodstream to different cells. These nutrients are then used to produce energy, build new tissues, repair damaged cells, and support various metabolic activities.
For example, glucose is used in cellular respiration to release energy, while amino acids are used to synthesize proteins required for growth and repair.
Assimilation ensures that the nutrients obtained from food are effectively used by the body to maintain proper functioning and overall health.
