What is an electromagnet and how is it constructed?
An electromagnet is a temporary magnet produced when electric current flows through a coil of wire. It loses its magnetism when the current is switched off.
It is constructed by winding insulated copper wire around a soft iron core and passing electric current through the coil. The magnetic field generated by the current magnetizes the iron core, making it act like a magnet.
