What is a heterogeneous mixture?
A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture in which the components are not uniformly distributed and can often be seen separately. Different parts of the mixture may have different compositions.
Examples:
Oil and water
Sand mixed with water
Soil
Vegetable salad
Unlike a homogeneous mixture, a heterogeneous mixture does not have the same composition throughout. Its components usually retain their individual properties and can often be separated by physical methods.
