What are the types of reproduction?
Reproduction is mainly classified into two types: asexual reproduction and sexual reproduction.
Asexual reproduction involves only one parent and does not require the fusion of gametes. The offspring produced are usually genetically identical to the parent. Common methods include binary fission, budding, fragmentation, and spore formation.
Sexual reproduction involves two parents and includes the fusion of male and female gametes to form a zygote. The offspring produced show genetic variation because they inherit traits from both parents.
Both types of reproduction help in the continuation of species, but sexual reproduction contributes more to genetic diversity.
