What are the types of mixtures?
Mixtures are mainly classified into two types based on how uniformly the substances are mixed: homogeneous mixtures and heterogeneous mixtures.
A homogeneous mixture has a uniform composition throughout, meaning you cannot easily distinguish its components. For example, salt dissolved in water or air. In these mixtures, all parts look the same.
A heterogeneous mixture has a non-uniform composition, where different components can be seen separately. For example, a mixture of sand and water or oil and water. Here, the substances remain visibly distinct.
Understanding these types helps in choosing the right separation method, as different mixtures require different techniques based on their nature.
