What are acquired traits?
Acquired traits are characteristics that develop during the lifetime of an organism due to environmental factors, lifestyle, habits, or experiences.
These traits are not controlled directly by genes and are usually not passed from parents to offspring through heredity.
Examples of acquired traits include muscular body development through exercise, scars on the skin, language skills, and tanning caused by sunlight exposure.
Acquired traits result from interaction with the environment and help organisms adapt to their surroundings during their lifetime.
Unlike inherited traits, acquired traits generally disappear with the individual and are not transferred genetically to the next generation.
