How does the NEET qualifying mark affect eligibility for AIIMS and JIPMER?
The NEET qualifying marks play a very important role in admission to medical colleges like AIIMS and JIPMER.
NEET is the only entrance exam for MBBS admission in India.
AIIMS and JIPMER no longer conduct separate exams. Earlier they had own test but now merged into NEET.
Students must qualify NEET cutoff to become eligible.
| Category | Expected Percentile | Approx Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General | 50th percentile | 137–720 |
| OBC/SC/ST | 40th percentile | 107–136 |
(Marks may slightly change every year depending on paper difficulty)
If student does not meet qualifying marks, they cannot apply for counselling.
Even if qualified, higher marks are needed for top colleges like AIIMS Delhi.
Cutoff for AIIMS is usually very high (650+ marks approx).
Qualifying NEET is like minimum requirement. But getting admission in AIIMS or JIPMER needs much higher score. Many students qualify but only top rankers get seat.
