How does the Earth's rotation lead to the apparent motion of stars in the sky?

Because the Earth rotates, the sky appears to turn in the opposite direction. Stars seem to move from east to west across the sky each night. In the Northern Hemisphere, stars appear to circle around the North Star (Polaris), which remains nearly fixed in position. This apparent motion is a result of our rotating viewpoint on Earth.
