How do shadows change throughout the day?

Shadows change in length and direction depending on the position of the sun in the sky. In the morning and late afternoon, shadows are longer because the sun is lower on the horizon. At noon, when the sun is directly overhead, shadows are shortest. This change occurs due to the angle at which sunlight hits the object creating the shadow.
