How can we test the presence of fats in food?
The presence of fats in food can be tested using the grease spot test or translucent paper test. Rub a small amount of the food sample on a clean piece of paper and allow it to dry for a few minutes.
If the food contains fat, it leaves a translucent (greasy) patch on the paper that does not disappear after drying. If no fat is present, the paper dries without leaving a permanent translucent spot. This simple test is widely used in school science laboratories to identify fats in food.
